The Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Public Affairs is seeking just over 2.4 million dollars, to deal with the Boys Industrial School, overtime at Dodds Prison and other matters in the Ministry.
The supplementary will see in excess of $1.7 million being used to retrofit the Boys Industrial School, so as to relocate the Girls Industrial School within the same compound.
The girls are presently housed at the Barrow’s Children’s Home in St. Lucy, which Minister Wilfred Abrahams says is far from adequate.
He says after investigations into the mistreatment of one of the female juvenile inmates, they have made it a priority to relocate them.
