Government has amended the road traffic bill allowing for the inclusion of approved garages to assist in reducing the backlog at the Barbados Licensing Authority.
The approved garages will assist in providing some services currently on offer at the BLA.
In leading off debate on the amendment bill Deputy Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw says discussions have already been held with interested parties.
Ms. Bradshaw who is the Minister of Transport, Works and Water Resources, says Government is in the process of modernizing the BLA, a move Barbadians have been requesting.
She says approved garages will however have to interact with the Licensing Authority notifying it of services undertaken.
Ms. Bradshaw provided an update on the planned Electric Vehicle Registration (EVR) system, noting legislation is coming soon.
