Government is committed to harnessing all the critical skills needed to meet its transitional targets for the ever-progressive renewable energy sector.
That’s according to Minister of Energy and Business Senator Lisa Cummins.
She says although Government has been able to make significant ground in its solar photovoltaic technology targets thus far it is still lagging behind where wind technology is concerned.
She says Barbados needs the uptick in skills and expertise to keep a pace of an industry which is very fast-paced.
Senator Cummins made the remark today during a presentation to 2023 scholarship winners of the Energy Development Scholarship Programme Adeko Collymore and Kyle Nero at the Trinity Business Centre in Country Road, St. Michael.
Senator Cummins says with the ongoing challenges impacting the global energy sector with the use of fossil fuels still being a vital commodity, Government is forced to delicately manage its course of action with regard to the transitioning process towards renewable energy.
