A Barbados diplomat believes if legislative changes are adopted to allow third-generation descendants living in the United Kingdom to acquire citizenship, there would be a surge in applications.
That Is the view of Deputy High Commissioner, Mackie Holder. He was speaking to Barbadian journalists during a courtesy call made possible by the British High Commission. Mr. Holder says the grandchildren of Barbadians, who are living in England, are interested in becoming citizens of the island.
He was also questioned on whether a change in legislation like this would assist in the Government’s efforts to increase the island’s population.
