Gregory Nicholls sworn in as new Government Senator

Government Senator Gregory Nicholls was sworn in at State House this morning by President Dame Sandra Mason.

Nicholls who is the replacement for Khaleel Kothdiwala after the two-thirds vote was not given for the 18-year-old, took the oath in the presence of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, Deputy Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw, Attorney General Dale Marshall, and Senior Ministers the Most Honourable Senator Dr Jerome Walcott and Kerry Symmonds, along with Cabinet Secretary Hughland Allman and Clerk of Parliament Pedro Eastmond.

Also present for the swearing-in were his wife Nesha Raja and mother Norma Nicholls.

Of the appointment, Nicholls told members of the media that he was honoured to serve for the second time and while the environment has changed considerably since 2008, he was ready for the role, the Estimates Debate and he thanked Prime Minister Mottley for the confidence reposed in him.
