Ham producer clears air amid allegations of pricing discrepancies

December 22, 2023

A viral video suggesting locally-produced Farmer’s Choice hams were being sold in the US cheaper than in Barbados has prompted a response from the producers.

Goddard Enterprises Limited, the parent company for Hipac, which is responsible for the Farmer’s Choice brand, says the claim is not true.

Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Mouttet says unfortunately a lot of misinformation has gone into circulation about the venture in recent days, including the notion that the hams sold in America are produced in Barbados.

The second piece of incorrect information in the video relates to the price comparison.

Meanwhile, the senior executive explains that the initiative in the US was actually a trial to test the market and it has proven to be very successful.

He says despite the misinformation that was spread on social media, all of the hams in the New York and New Jersey markets have sold out and they are already looking towards next year to increase the level of production to coincide with different holidays and major events.
