Humphrey pays tribute to the late Phyllis Roett

Minister of People Empowerment Kirk Humphrey has been paying tribute to the first Director of the Child Care Board, the late Phyllis Roett, who passed away recently.

In his statement, Minister Humphrey notes Mrs. Roett was a caring woman, a Barbadian possessed of a heart that bled for the welfare of the family and the protection and development of children.

He adds her skills were not only used in Barbados but in the region and with the Canadian International Development Agency.

She was the wife of former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Ishmael Roett, whose Barbados O’level Institute was responsible for providing a second chance to countless Barbadian youth, who may not have succeeded in the secondary school system.
