Barbados has warned a debt and economic crisis looms for countries in the Americas if swift interventions are not made.
While acknowledging her country and the region do not have the fiscal space to respond to the crises they currently face, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley says the slide many are experiencing must be broken.
She was at the time addressing Plenary Session Two of the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California.
Ms. Mottley quoted a popular phrase from Jamaican reggae icon, Bob Marley telling the Summit “there is so much trouble in the world”.
She called for reform of the international financial institutions architecture, noting any one of the three crises facing the region can bring a country down.
