CARICOM has developed a policy framework for the sustainable management of the region’s environmental and natural resources.

This is as it moves to tackle global challenges that could impact the bloc’s sustainable development.

Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett says the Caribbean Community Environment and Natural Resources Policy Framework, is expected to be formally launched at the upcoming fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States in Antigua and Barbuda.

She made the announcement during a sub-regional workshop in Guyana.

Dr. Barnett told those gathered that CARICOM is determined to lead by example.

Minister of Natural Resources in Guyana, Vickram Bharrat says Guyana can be used as a model country for the balancing of the extraction of natural resources with the preservation of biodiversity.
