The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training has expressed its deep regrets following the simulation exercise at the Springer Memorial School which led to panic among students, leaving some traumatised.

Chief Education Officer Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw said that following the incident they sought clarity from the Principal. As part of the drill, masked men armed with fake weapons ventured onto the school compound. She also said that a meeting was held with the principal and deputy today for a better understanding of the event.

Dr Ramona Archer-Bradshaw was speaking during a news conference minutes ago, in which the principal of the Springer Memorial School, Cheryl Gill, maintained members of staff were informed about the simulation lockdown exercise.

She says all of the students were in their respective classrooms when it began.
