The 46 year-old man who was electrocuted while carrying out a task at his St. George workplace yesterday has been identified by Police.
He is Patrick Jones of Colleton Tenantry, St. John.
Meanwhile, officials from the Barbados Light & Power Company have expressed their condolences to his family in the wake of the incident.
Manager of Communications and Government Relations with the Power Company, Jackie Marshall-Clarke says they’re saddened to learn about the incident.
According to Police, Jones only started working at the Glacial Pure Ice Plant, where the incident occurred, on Monday.
They said prior to the incident, he was handling a long metal object being hoisted by a crane onto a roof, when it came into contact with electrical lines, causing him to be electrocuted.
He was immediately assisted at the scene and an ambulance was summoned to take him to the hospital.
However, he died while receiving medical treatment.
