Barbadian entertainer, Llewellyn ‘Jiggs’ Kirton has died.
Confirmation of this from longtime friend and former promoter, Al Gilkes.
He told CBC News Kirton passed away in the United States, where he has lived since the 1960s.
Mr. Gilkes says he was informed by a mutual friend that Kirton went into hospital a few days ago and it was this morning around 10:00 a.m. that he received the call about his passing.
Kirton was one of the original members of the Draytons Three.
Childhood friend and former bandmate, Desmond Weekes says he has very fond memories of the singer.
Mr. Weekes is calling for a token to commemorate Kirton’s contribution to the musical landscape in Barbados.
