All local mosques have been ordered closed.
Head of the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit, Ronald Chapman, confirmed the decision was made yesterday.
He tells CBC News the closure is due to a high number of positive cases within the community.
Meanwhile some members of the Muslim community are tonight speaking about their experiences with the COVID-19 virus.
Imam Aakil Bhula says there have been cases linked to family clusters but he maintains mosques across the island continue to follow strict COVID-19 protocols to curb the spread of the virus.
According to Mr. Bhula, the Muslim community is responding to the call to be vaccinated against the viral illness.
