New research shows less than 1% of vaccinated Barbadians have reported experiencing adverse effects from COVID-19 vaccines.

The disclosure from Chatoyer Bobb, an independent researcher and Tutor at the University of the West Indies.

He was speaking during a UWI Cave Hill discourse called ‘Pharmacovigilance – Monitoring the Safety of COVID-19 Vaccine in Barbados’.

Mr. Bobb says individuals inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine account for the majority of these reports, in light of the fact it was the first vaccine brand available on island.

Meanwhile, Epidemiologist Maria Ingram says international organizations have been assisting Barbados in its surveillance of adverse effects from vaccinations.
