M.P. dismisses WhatsApp message as fake news

September 6th, 2022

Member of Parliament for St. James North Edmund Hinkson is dismissing as fake news, information circulating on social media that he plans to bow out of elective politics before the Barbados Labour Party’s October annual conference.

In a media release he said “what is being widely circulated today about me resigning before the end of this year is fake news, just as much as the fake news which has been circulating over the last week about other national state of affairs.”

He added that following a general election less than eight months ago, with the People of St. James North returning him to Parliament with the second highest percentage of votes after only the Prime Minister and after just last week taking Minister Charles Griffith to Weston to have a mini sports facility constructed somewhere along the coast in his constituency, he continues to work.

Some of the areas he mentioned working on are road repairs and drainage.

Mr. Hinkson added that from next Thursday his constituency will be commencing townhall meetings and looks forward to wide participation by the Barbadian public, both at home and in the diaspora.

He is also having his Parish Speaks on the 28th of this month with Prime Minister Mottley and his Parish colleague Members of Parliament.
