Tragedy struck at Apes Hill, St. James where two men fell from a scaffolding while doing construction work, resulting in the death of one of them.
Police are still at the scene after receiving a report around 8:20 a.m. today, Monday, April 8, about the incident which occurred at a building located at lot C4, Apes Hill.
They noted in a press release that one man died on the spot after he fell onto a piece of steel and was impaled. Another worker who also fell from the scaffolding, was transported to hospital via ambulance, complaining of pain to his back and to his lower extremities.
The deceased man has been identified as a 51-year-old Guyanese national who is a resident of Barbados. The other injured man is 50-years-old.
The Barbados Police Service added that the scaffolding was approximately 30 – 40 feet high.
