Former Member of Parliament for St. Michael North West, Mark Williams, has died at the age of 83.

CBC understands he passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the early hours of this morning.

Mr. Williams was a former Sales Representative here at the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, and was also the host of the long running radio programme ‘Looking Back’ on Q100.7 FM.

His son Paul, who cared for Mr. Williams in his latter stages, said he had been ailing for some time, but got progressively worst in recent weeks.

He reveals his father was significantly impacted by the death of his friend, veteran entertainer Richard Stoute.

Williams’ oldest daughter, Beverley, recalls her father was a strict disciplinarian who loved to go to the beach.

Williams won the St. Michael North West seat for the Barbados Labour Party in the 1999 general election, serving one term.

His son Christopher however says he was regarded as the unofficial mayor of the constituency for decades.
