A Mexican Film Festival has been started in Barbados.
Mexican Ambassador to Trinidad, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Victor Hugo Morales Malendez says it cements 50 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The event, which took place last night at the Wall Garden in the Barbados Museum, has recognised Barbados as a nation which empowers women, a trait Mexico shares along with many other cultural similarities.
Honorary Council for Mexico Sir Trevor Carmichael says he has been in the position for 40 of the 50 years.
He says in that time a double taxation treaty was introduced which fostered good trade relations, and given the calibre of their film industry there was much to look forward to.
