Minister warns against life of crime

July 7, 2023

Some sound advice from a Government Minister for young people considering a life of crime.

Minister in the Office of the Attorney General with responsibility for Crime Prevention, Corey Lane suggests many are not fully aware of the consequences of their actions.

Calling for a change in mindset, he says there’s a belief the main consequence is that they will be arrested or killed.

His message to young Barbadians is that the life of a bad boy or bad girl is one of misery.

Mr. Lane was at the time addressing the graduation ceremony for participants in the Children’s Education and Awareness Group Programme organised by the Centre for Counselling Addiction Support Alternatives.

He says such programmes are critical as they assist with a social ill.

Chairman of CASA, Edmund Grimes says the organisation, over its 23 years of existence, has not limited its counsel to substance abuse but was directed at anger management, grief and loss and mental health.
