Barbados’ Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir has been elected as the new Chair of the Executive Committee of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).
He succeeds Laura Suazo, Secretary of Agriculture and Livestock of Honduras, who completed her one-year mandate.
Minister Weir was among Caribbean ministers of agriculture gathered in Costa Rica for IICA’s Executive Committee Meeting.
During his address at the meeting, he spoke of the importance of IICA’s work in Barbados to incorporate women and youth into the agriculture sector, saying people are realising things have changed.
