Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is launching a new initiative to arrest gun crime and violence in Barbados.
She announced a new national mentorship drive that will be established soon.
Essentially, the Prime Minister is calling on Barbadians from all walks of life to step up and assist young men and women, to help them stay on the right path.
The revelation came during the centennial anniversary ceremony for Windward Cricket Club.
Ms. Mottley declared she will not be burying her head in the sand as she continues to issue a clarion call during this month of independence to Barbadians to come forward and help save Barbadian youth.
She says clubs like Windward have a key role to play in the fight to help turn Barbados around.
