The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has a new Chief Executive Officer.

The QEH Board of Directors has confirmed the appointment of Neil Clark to the position, with effect from April 2, 2024.

In a press release, the QEH says Mr. Clark emerged as the leading candidate from an original list of 84, which was then whittled down to 12 shortlisted candidates.

A rigorous selection process was undertaken, which included representative sampling of management and staff input into a profiling of their expectations of a CEO, and psychometric leadership and emotional intelligence competencies.

Of the twelve shortlisted candidates, five were interviewed.

Mr. Clark, who holds a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Organisational Development and Consultancy, brings 30 years of health care planning and senior management experience to his new role.

His experience includes transforming and revitalising healthcare operations, and driving service improvements across primary healthcare centres and regulatory bodies as well as major hospitals.

Mr. Clark has served as the Chief Operations Officer of a large multi-site 1000 bed and 8000 staff hospital and community care provider in the United Kingdom. He also recently served as Abu Dhabi’s Senior Advisor to the Department of Health, before being promoted to the Executive Director of Health Care Planning. In that role, he took the lead for the Health Care Planning Response to COVID, and supported Abu Dhabi in receiving a number of international awards for Best COVID Response.

The QEH says Mr. Clark has been recognised for aligning outcome values with a commitment to quality patient care, repositioning organisations for strength through visionary leadership, and implementing targeted solutions to enhance health care capacity and delivery.

The Board of Directors, in welcoming Mr. Clark to the leadership role, says it looks forward a strong collaborative relationship in efforts to deliver a world-class healthcare service experience to Barbados.
