There are no confirmed cases of monkeypox in Barbados to date.
This from Health Minister Ian Gooding-Edghill, who says health officials are still awaiting the results from testing of a suspected case of the virus.
He assures the public that it will be updated on the outcome.
In a statement released this afternoon, he revealed the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has recently acquired the capacity to test for the monkeypox virus, and as a result, the sample from the suspected case is being testing locally.
