Barbadians are being told there’s no need to panic, despite the circulation of a number of viral illnesses in key tourism source markets.
That’s the message from Director of the Centre for Biosecurity Studies at the University of the West Indies, Dr. Kirk Douglas.
He was speaking to CBC’s Morning Report about JN.1, the newest COVID-19 variant of interest identified by the World Health Organisation.
In addition to COVID-19, people are also contracting the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
As people gather over the holiday period, Dr. Douglas is offering advice on what steps they can take to protect especially the most vulnerable.
