Parents, students and staff of the Gordon Greenidge Primary School will benefit from the adoption of that school by the Obesity Foundation.
Co-founder, Dr. Danielle Reid-Melillo made the announcement after the presentation of prizes to students who participated in the school’s athletics championships event.
The adoption of this school means they will receive health checks, information to promote healthy living and other support.
The organisation recently held a 5k Run and Walk Race in St. Peter where the proceeds are being used to promote healthier lifestyles in Barbados.
The Gordon Greenidge Primary School is the first to benefit from the Foundation’s initiatives.
As momentum builds in the fight against non-communicable diseases, Member of Parliament for St. James North, Edmund Hinkson, reiterated the importance of sports in this fight.
He was also present at the prize giving ceremony.
