Road closures and no parking restrictions will be in effect from 2:00 p.m. today on a number of streets in Christ Church near Oistins to facilitate the smooth running of the Oistins Fish Festival.
The four-day Oistins Fish Festival begins today and continues on Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, and the Barbados Police Service will be enforcing the following Traffic Control (Oistins Festival) Rules, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to midnight every day of the festivities.
Roads closed
No vehicle, except public service vehicles, will be allowed to access Oistins Road from its junction with Keizer Hill to its junction with:
- Welches Road No. 1
- Bentham Road
- 2nd Avenue Welches
In addition, Welches Road from its junction with Welches Road No.1 to its junction with Canevale Hill will be closed to all vehicles, except public service vehicles.
Strictly no parking
Further, no driver or person in charge of a vehicle will be allowed to park or keep the vehicle stationary on any of the following roads or the adjoining footpaths, unless picking up or dropping off passengers:
- Oistins Road
- Maxwell Hill
- Welches Road
- Keizer Hill
- Oistins Hill
- Maxwell Main Road
Fine or imprisonment
All drivers, riders of vehicles, pedestrians, and riders or leaders of animals using any of the roads with restricted access must exercise caution and comply with the rules, as well as obey any order given by police in uniform.
Anyone who disobeys these rules or fails to comply with any order given by uniformed police is guilty of an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for three months. (PR/SNR)
