Online classes for SJPI from next week

The Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) will be conducting classes online from next week.

This as it will be closed for urgent, unavoidable repairs from Monday, October 23, 2023.

In a release this evening, the educational institution says it will be closed to November 17, 2023 in the first instance.

The SJPI says the closure is to ensure the safety of staff and students, as it strives to enhance current and future learning experiences.

It says it understands that access to the campus and its services are essential, and assured stakeholders that the institution remains committed to providing high-quality services.

During this period of closure, some changes to classes and administrative services will be in effect.

All classes will be suspended on Monday, October 23 and theoretical classes for all full-time programmes will be conducted online beginning Tuesday, October 24.

Meanwhile, face-to-face classes within the Distance and Continuing Division/Open and Flexible Learning Centre will be suspended from October 23 until November 17, 2023 in the first instance. However, theoretical instruction will continue online.

In addition, during the temporary closure, all administrative services offered on campus will be continue to be available remotely, with staff assisting via email, online and telephone.

To reach administrative services during this time, the public can call the SJPI at PBX 535-2200 for phone assistance, or call officers directly using their extension numbers or email addresses.

Graduation payments and other SJPI-related payments can be made at any Republic Bank location or via SurePay, over the counter or online.

Management has apologised for any inconvenience this unexpected disruption may cause and thanked stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.
