Minister of State in the Office of the Attorney General with responsibility for Crime Prevention, Corey Lane, has revealed information coming to his office indicates that there are only two main gangs in Barbados, and not the 52 as previously believed.
Speaking on CBC TV8’s Newsnight on the heels of two gun-related homicides in Bridgetown in less than 12 hours on Sunday, the MP for that area said there are plans to stamp out the gangs, which are operating all over the country.
Minister Lane says short-term preventative measures to curb violence have been in play, and it is now time to implement mid and long term plans.
