Outstanding jurists honoured

April 5, 2024

The Caribbean Court of Custice (CCJ) Academy for Law has honoured four outstanding jurists for their service and contribution to the legal profession.

Chief Justice Sir Patterson Cheltenham, former President of the Senate Sir Richard Cheltenham, former Attorney General Sir Henry Forde, and former Chief Justice Sir David Simmons were presented with tokens of appreciation during a ceremony at the Judge’s Lounge of the Supreme Court yesterday.

The legendary legal practitioners were presented with a special pin.

Judge of the CCJ, Justice Winston Anderson also presented the honourees with copies of the Legendary Caribbean Legal Practitioners book which is the third instalment of the Academy’s eminent Caribbean jurist series.

Chief Justice Cheltenham said his fellow honourees are skilled exponents of their art.

Sir Richard Cheltenham said the award has forced him to reflect on his legal and political career.

Sir David Simmons says he and his colleagues are recipients of the award because of their dedication to the law.

He says the legal fraternity has lost several members this year and they too should be remembered for their contribution to the development of the profession.
