There are over 2000 active cases of COVID-19 in Barbados currently.
This revelation from Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anton Best during a press conference this morning, which was convened by COVID-19 Public Advisor David Ellis.
Dr. Best says in addition to the over 800 people in isolation facilities, 1486 people are currently isolating at home.
He has described the COVID-19 situation in Barbados as dire.
Dr. Best gave an outline of the increase in cases over the past few months.
Dr. Adanna Grandison, who is the Consultant for Home Isolation, said 122 people who were on home isolation, have since been transported to the isolation facilities, with others awaiting transfer.
