PM Mottley attends IMF/World Bank meetings

April 18, 2024

Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley is among world leaders in Washington, DC for the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.

A series of high-level meetings is expected to set the direction for the institutions, along with panels and side events, as well as related meetings like the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meetings.

The meetings will have significant influence on the trajectory of global issues including debt, the role of developing countries in global governance and the new collective quantified goal – the new climate finance target to be set at this year’s United Nations climate negotiations.

Already, Ms. Mottley has engaged in meetings on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings.

She was among regional representatives for a meeting between the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and CARICOM Ministers of Finance.

The Barbadian leader is also among the panel for the global inclusive growth summit set for later today.

The summit hosted by the Mastercard Centre for Inclusive Growth advances real solutions to today’s most pressing challenges through collaboration and candid conversation among entrepreneurs, innovators, policymakers and emerging changemakers.
