The fourth Goalkeepers event in New York City was the latest global forum Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley has taken advantage of to push the message of the plights of the country and Small Island Developing States.
She was among a slate of high profile speakers for the event, organised by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which returned after a two year hiatus.
Ms. Mottley reminded the U.S. Congress its action will have an impact now on billions, and not just the population of the United States.
She says the region is seeing the combined impact of the climate crisis, COVID-19 and now the war in Ukraine.
