The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been undertaking work on lowering the cost of financing to benefit countries like Barbados.
Special Advisor on Climate Change at the IDB, Professor Avinash Persaud says this has been evident with new debt swaps and the Barbados-inspired natural disaster clauses.
Professor Persaud was among the speakers for a discussion on financial innovations and their impact on the region at the annual meeting of the IDB in the Dominican Republic.
He says however more needs to be done.
