QEH phasing in internet-based activities

December 29, 2022

Officials from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital say they are continuing to make progress in fully restoring their systems, in the wake of a recent cyber incident that resulted in disruption of some departments and web-related services.

In an update, the hospital’s Chief Operations Officer, Dr. Christine Greenidge says their team, working with private and international experts, are containing the problem and doing a full system assessment.

She said to date, cleaning of the hospital’s computer systems has also begun.

As a result, she notes the return to regular internet-based activity will occur in a phased approach across the hospital, and is expected to commence during the first week in January.

The COO says despite the challenges, the hospital’s dedicated staff remains committed to operating manually, as they seek to provide the best possible service.

She says their departments are open but there continues to be a few temporary changes including suspension of the medication delivery service, delays in the out-patients clinic, and non-issuance of new appointment dates by the medical records department.
