In light of extended wait times at the Accident and Emergency Department, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital is appealing to Barbadians seeking treatment for issues that are not life-threatening, to use alternative medical facilities.

According to Communications Specialist Shane Sealy, the QEH has recorded an increase in patient inflows at A&E, which has severely hampered its capacity to efficiently respond to demands in a timely manner.

Mr. Sealy is advising people to use nearby polyclinics or the 24 hour Winston Scott facility at Jemmotts Lane for after hours care.

He says meanwhile, life threatening injuries within the A&E Triage System will continue to be given high priority treatment.
