Executive Chairman of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland is leaving the institution in seven weeks.

The QEH said in a press release late Friday night that Ms. Bynoe-Sutherland’s last day at the island’s biggest public hospital is June 3, as she leaves “to pursue another professional opportunity”.

Her departure will see the return to the separation of the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Ministry of Health and Wellness is addressing the requirements to facilitate these changes.

“The Board is sufficiently satisfied that having strengthened the management layer, the capacity of QEH is sufficiently expanded that the hospital can return to the traditional governance model,” said the release.

The search for QEH’s new CEO begins tomorrow, and local and international candidates would be considered.

Ms. Bynoe-Sutherland took up Executive Chairmanship of QEH in July 2018.

Her most noteworthy accomplishments include leading the hospital’s national response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and executing major infrastructural and programmatic changes as part of a service-transformation initiative. (PR)
