Reducing court backlog high on agenda

May 18, 2024

Government remains committed to providing the judiciary with the material and human resources necessary to reduce the current backlog of court cases.

That assurance comes from Attorney General Dale Marshall, who has noted Government’s efforts in this regard, including the hiring of new judges and judicial assistants as well as the embracing of modern technology in the court system.

He however believes greater attention must be paid to the effective functioning of the Civil Court.

The Attorney General added that 12 officers are undergoing training for court transcription, which will assist in reducing the backlog of cases, especially those brought against the State.
