Barbados has recommended the region embrace innovation and smart technology to build the agricultural sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Minister of Agriculture and Food and Nutritional Security Indar Weir, in making the recommendation, admits countries will need assistance in this regard.
He called on the Food and Agricultural Organisation to assist as countries will not have the resources to do this.
He told the 37th Session of the FAO Regional Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean in Ecuador, countries in the region remain vulnerable.
