The ease with which people have access to derelict and abandoned buildings is a concern for the Barbados Fire Service.
The latest fire occurred this week at the old Ministry of Health complex at Jemmotts Lane, the City.
Chief Fire Officer, Errol Maynard says these fires have resulted from individuals doing various unsanctioned activities in the buildings.
Some derelict buildings are being occupied by vagrants and homeless people.
Mr. Maynard wants owners of these buildings to take action by restricting access.
