Legendary Barbadian entertainment icon, Richard “Dick” Stoute, is dead.
The ‘Godfather’ of local entertainment passed away late last night at his home after a lengthy illness.
Being on the entertainment scene since the 1960s, he’s the creator and director of the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Competition a staple of local entertainment for 47 years.
Stoute was a founding member of the singing group “The Opels”, and also recorded many local single hits, including “Goodbye Now My Bajan Girl”, “Pretty Blues Eyes”, “Best Part Of My Day”, “Pity The Fool”, and “Rock-Steady Christmas”.
Stoute was honoured nationally with the Barbados Service Star in 1993 and the Gold Crown of Merit in 2008.
Richard Stoute died at age 77.
