Plans are still in motion for a roll out of the new Barbados identification card by year end.
However, Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology, Senator Kay McConney says a very important testing and certification phase is currently taking place to ensure the card’s use as an official travel document.
The Minister made the comment on Friday, as she helped to officially re-open PBS Technologies’ storefront location at Sheraton Centre, with their new print I.T. store.
The Minister says PBS has been a major partner in helping Government to ensure that the national ID meets international standards, through its global partnerships, value chains and vendor relationships.
Meanwhile, General Manager of PBS Barbados Elvin Nash explained the significance of the store’s new name, noting that it’s actually multi-faceted.
