Barbados’ Ambassador to CARICOM, David Comissiong says sanctions are impacting the restart of the subsidised oil procurement agreement with Venezuela, PetroCaribe.
The matter, he says, was among a range of topics discussed by Caribbean heads who met recently in Trinidad and Tobago for the 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government.
Caribbean leaders, during that meeting, denounced US economic sanctions against Venezuela and had called for their lifting.
Overall, Ambassador Comissiong is confident Caribbean leaders are moving on the right track given the range of agenda items tackled.
Mr. Comissiong was a guest on the Conversations on CARICOM segment of Mornin’ Barbados.
He says Caribbean leaders are working to deliver to the bloc, the full freedom of movement of its nationals.
