Barbadians seeking mental health services are being warned to ensure the individual they seek counselling from is a trained professional.
The advice from Mental Health Advocate Tessa Chadderton-Shaw.
She was a guest on CBC’s Let’s Talk About It radio programme on Q100.7 FM, which focused on Mental Health Challenges in Barbados.
Ms. Chadderton-Shaw has stressed that it is possible for people to function with mental health disorders.
She wants people to be allowed to disclose their conditions and not be regarded as a threat to society.
Meanwhile, Clinical Social Worker Pamela Jones-Goodridge has addressed how employers can deal with employees who may pose a threat to themselves or others.
