Barbados’ Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kerrie Symmonds wants the implementation and execution of renewable energy projects in small island developing states (SIDS) expedited.
He told the opening of a high level energy conference that SIDS must see and experience the transition of the renewable energy era as the world is at a tipping point.
The meeting, which opened this morning at the Barbados Hilton, is co-hosted by the Government of Barbados, and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) through the SIDS Lighthouses initiative.
Minister Symmonds also highlighted the issue of financing for SIDS.
