Sobers first out for Tokyo Olympics

The first Barbados Olympian to compete at the Tokyo Games was Alex Sobers, who placed 7th in Heat 2 of the Men’s 400 Metre Freestyle this morning around 6:44 Barbados time.

Swimming out of lane 8, Sobers was 7th with a time of 3:59.14, which was way below his personal best and national record of 3:53.19.

His performance was not enough to qualify for the final as only the top eight times from all five heats will advance.

Tomorrow Sunday July 25th, 2021, Danielle Titus will participate in the Women’s 100 Metre Backstroke Heats, set to come off between 6:02 and 6:14 a.m. Barbados time.

Meanwhile, Sobers will take part in the Men’s 200 Metre Freestyle Heats between 6:17 and 6:30 a.m.
