The former executive of the Insurance Corporation of Barbados (ICBL), Alex Tasker, has been released from police custody.
This is after the Caribbean Court of Justice dismissed an application for special leave, which paved the way for him to be extradited to the United States on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to launder money.
Mr. Tasker was however released from police custody after the CCJ agreed to an urgent request to hear further interventions
Tasker has been linked to the Donville Inniss case. Inniss, a former Minister of Industry in Barbados, in April 2021 was sentenced to two years in prison for his role in a scheme to launder bribe payments from the Barbados-based insurance company through bank accounts in New York.
