Temporary changes at the QEH following cyber security incident

December 14, 2022

The lack of internet and systems access at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has made it necessary for that institution to implement some temporary changes.

This outage is the result of a cyber security incident on its internet network.

Those measures are in effect from today, Wednesday, December 14, 2022 and are listed below.

Pharmacy

– New prescriptions issued in the outpatient clinics and the Accident and Emergency Department

(A&E) will be facilitated at the Polyclinics, and not the QEH pharmacy. Please note that these medications are to be refilled at the same location until further notice.

– Home delivery

Patients who submitted requests for home delivery of medications on Dec 12 or 13 by email, are asked to note that we are unable to facilitate the requests at this time. Further instructions will follow.

– Repeats of prescriptions originally filled at the QEH Pharmacy will continue to be filled there as usual. Please remember to bring your empty medication containers to ease the facilitation of the process.

Outpatient Clinics

Outpatient clinics remain open, however there may be delays.

Accident and Emergency Department

The Department remains open to the public, but delays may be experienced.

Radiology

Appointments for CT scans, ultrasounds and x-rays scheduled for December 14 are postponed. Patients will be contacted with new dates.

For further information please contact the Patient Liaison Service (Help Desk) at 536-4800. The QEH remains committed to serving you, and will keep you updated on the situation.
