UPDATE: Police identify victim in fatal shooting

The Barbados Police Service has identified the man killed during a shooting incident at Beckwith Street, St. Michael on Sunday.

He is Akil Amir Jaaunai Bryan, 26 years, of Beckwith Street, St. Michael. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by private motor car and was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical doctor; his mother Tracy Junai of the same address identified his body.

Gladstone Llewelyn Bridgeman, 43 years of the same address received an injury to his right thigh during that incident and is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Police from the Bridgetown Division are continuing investigations into the incident which occurred on Sunday 14 August 2022.

They said in a press statement that police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of the junction of Oxley Road and Beckwith Street, St. Michael, where an unresponsive body was discovered around 11:12 pm.

Police urged anyone who can provide information that can assist with these investigations to call the Criminal Investigation Department at 430-7189/7190, Police Emergency 211, Crime Stoppers at 1800-TIPS (8477) or the nearest Police Station.

The statement added that “all information received will be strictly confidential”.
