UWI partners with Uni. of Ghana for exchange programme

The University of the West Indies is partnering with the University of Ghana (UG) to send medical students on an exchange programme to Barbados.

The agreement will allow students from Ghana to complete the first three years of their studies at the UWI, after which they would be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree.

A memorandum of understanding cementing the deal was inked between the Vice-Chancellor of the UG, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and the Principal and Pro-Vice Chancellor of UWI Cave Hill Professor Clive Landis in Accra.

Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School, Alfred Yawson says the partnership that resulted in the transnational medical programme came about on a recent trip by the Ghanaian leader to Barbados and visit to UWI.

He says Ghana stands to benefit from the partnership.

Meanwhile Professor Landis commended the University of Ghana on the success of the joint initiative.

He says the programme has already commenced in Barbados.
