Voyagers defeats Guardians by 40 runs

Ackeem Springer struck a vital half-century as Voyagers defeated the Guardians by 40 runs via the DLS method in the Bim 10 Tournament at Desmond Haynes Oval.

Springer struck five 4’s and three 6’s in his 51 off 29 balls as Voyagers posted 106-5 after being sent into bat.

Dwayne Smith contributed 29.

In reply, the Guardians were limited to 52-4 in 8.4 overs at one stage, before rain halted play.

Captain Roshon Primus top scored with 19.

The result means Voyagers join Titans, Guardians, and Settlers in today’s semi-finals.

In the day’s first match, the Warriors ended their campaign in the competition with a 17-run victory under the DLS method against the settlers.

Batting first, the Warriors posted 99-1 off 8.3 overs led by an unbeaten 70 off 34 from Zidan Harewood.

His knock included seven 4’s and four 6’s.

In reply, Settlers were held to 77-9 off eight overs.

Spinner Zishan Motara took 3-18, while there were two wickets for Kemar Smith, Andre Marshall, and Zion Brathwaite.

The Warriors finished bottom of the table on six points from 10 matches.
